FAQ
WHAT IS A FUNCTIONAL CHIROPRACTOR?
There are many chiropractic techniques. A traditional chiropractor utilizes only adjustments to the spine and extremities. This approach helps a lot of people. Here at RSS, we are a blend between physical therapists and chiropractors.
If there is a break down in any of the arrows above; it possibly leads to muscle compensation, fascia restriction and potential injury. As a functional chiropractor, our mission is to find the primary cause of movement dysfunction and treat it with adjustments, soft tissue work, and physical therapy. This sometimes is a region in the body that isn't even painful.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
Restore Sport & Spine does not participate as an in-network provider with insurance companies. We are a cash-based, out-of-network practice, which allows treatment to be individualized without being restricted by insurance authorization or visit limitations. If your insurance plan provides out-of-network chiropractic benefits, you may be able to submit a superbill for potential reimbursement. We recommend contacting your insurance company directly to determine your specific benefits and coverage.
*FSA and HSA cards are accepted.
WHAT IF I DO NOT WANT TO BE CRACKED?
Movement is key, but there are many adjustment techniques & physiotherapy techniques that don’t involve making any cracks or popping sounds.
Chiropractic adjustments are one tool used at Restore Sport & Spine, but they are not appropriate or necessary for every patient or every visit. Treatment is based on your individual presentation and may include chiropractic manipulation, soft-tissue techniques, mobility work, dry needling, cupping, Nerve OTX, and corrective rehab exercises. If you prefer not to be adjusted, that can be incorporated into your treatment plan.
If you feel uncomfortable with having this type of adjustment, please let Dr. Wheeler know, and he will use other techniques.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON FIRST VISIT?
Your first visit is designed to understand not only where you are experiencing symptoms, but how your body is moving and what may be contributing to the problem. We begin with a detailed history and movement assessment, followed by a clinical evaluation based on your symptoms, goals, and functional limitations. When appropriate, movement screens and orthopedic or neurologic assessments may be incorporated. Treatment may include Chiropractic Adjustments, Dry Needling, Cupping, NERVE OTX, Graston, and Individualized Rehab Exercises. All listed can be found in the SERVICES tab
You will also leave with a clear understanding of the recommended treatment approach and what you can do between visits.
****Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being assessed or treated while allowing you to move freely.****

WHAT IS NERVE OTX?
Nerve OTX is an electrical stimulation modality used as an adjunct to the overall treatment plan. Nerve OTX is not intended to replace hands-on care or rehabilitation; rather, it can be used alongside other treatment strategies when indicated.
